What is The
World Congress of Families?
In response to a militantly anti-family ethos
prevalent in the ‘post modern’ West, the World Congress of Families fosters an
international network of pro-family organizations, scholars, and leaders that
seeks to restore the natural family as the fundamental social unit and the ‘seed
bed’ of a sane society. To date, there have been three World Congresses of
Families – Prague (1997), Geneva (1999) and Mexico City (2004). WCF IV is being
planned for Warsaw, May 11-13, 2007.
Our Goals
To shift the terms of public policy debate:
• From “The family as an obstacle to development” to “The family as the source
of social renewal and progress.”
• From “overpopulation” to “under-population” as the demographic challenge of
the 21st century.
• From “The small family and voluntary childlessness as good” to “The
celebration of the large family as a special social gift.”
• And from religious orthodoxy as a “threat to progress” to “religious
orthodoxy as the source of humane values and cultural progress.”
Why Warsaw?
“Europe is almost lost; to a demographic winter and to
the secularists. If Europe goes much of the world will go with it.
Almost alone, Poland has maintained strong faith and strong families, though
even Poland comes under severe pressure to change. Poland has saved Europe
before. It is likely she will save Europe again. On family and
population questions, Europe is the battleground in the early years of the 21st
Century, and Poland is the pivot point. It makes abundant sense that
The World Congress of Families IV meet among the brave people of Poland.
Poland’s central location will give pro-family groups across the Continent easy
access to this Congress.” ~ from the WCF IV Planning Meeting,
